A solo media hora en el RER A desde el centro de París,  encontrarás la ciudad de Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Esta ciudad figura en la lista de las bonitas ciudades francesas cercanas a París, no solo por su hermosa arquitectura y maravillosos restaurantes, sino también porque tiene un gran bosque y un encantador castillo.

Aparte del museo, el castillo en sí mismo merece una visita, aunque solo sea por su impresionante arquitectura y el hecho de que Luis XIV nació allí. En otra parte de Saint-Germain-en-Laye, se encuentra el real Château de Monte Cristo (la mansión de campo de Alejandro Dumas) y el Musée Claude Debussy en el lugar de nacimiento del icónico compositor.
Es conocida sobre todo por ser antiguamente “ciudad real” de muchos monarcas franceses, y de esa época quedan muchos edificios y museos inaugurados por algunos de ellos como el Museo de Antigüedades Nacionales, abierto por Napoleón III.

Castillo de Saint-Germain-en-Laye

Al llegar a Saint-Germain-en-Laye, es imposible perderse el impresionante castillo. Ubicada en el corazón de la ciudad, esta antigua residencia real fue construida en un elegante estilo renacentista, mientras que su Chapelle Saint-Louis se considera una verdadera obra maestra de la arquitectura gótica.
Hermoso castillo lleno de historia, cuenta con un inmenso jardín, desde el cuál, tenemos una de las mejores panorámicas de París.

Museo de Arqueología

El museo está ubicado dentro de un castillo cuyos orígenes se remontan al siglo XII. Esta antigua residencia de los reyes de Francia todavía está rodeada por los magníficos jardines diseñados por Le Nôtre, el creador de los jardines de Versalles, y por un gigantesco bosque de 3.500 hectáreas. La capilla real contigua es un preciado ejemplo de arte gótico.
En el interior, el mobiliario real ha sido reemplazado por joyas, artesanías y armería que datan de los orígenes de la época romana de la Galia. Descubrirá en particular una representación del primer rostro humano, “La dama de la capucha”, una escultura de marfil, fechada en el 21.000 a. C. El museo ofrece recorridos y actividades para niños, y también puede descubrir la colección a través de una aplicación móvil gratuita, disponible en francés e inglés.
Después de visitar el castillo y sus colecciones, diríjase al techo adosado para disfrutar de una vista excepcional de toda la finca y el valle del Sena. La entrada tiene un costo de 6€.

Parc du Сhâteau de Saint-Germain-en-Laye

A tan solo 25 minutos de París a través del RER, Saint-Germain ofrece un verdadero cambio de aires y sabe cómo aprovechar sus numerosos puntos interesantes y su dinamismo económico: patrimonio, naturaleza y estilo de vida.

Artistas en Saint-Germain en Laye

Su visita a Saint-Germain en Laye también puede ser una excursión cultural. La ciudad tiene fuertes vínculos con las artes y una vez fue el hogar del compositor Claude Debussy y el pintor Maurice Denis.
Un buen punto de partida sería el Espace Paul-et-André Vera, un impresionante museo que lleva el nombre de dos hermanos de Saint-Germain en Laye, que fueron pioneros del movimiento Art Déco. Paul Vera fue pintor e ilustrador y André Vera un teórico del diseño de jardines. Aquí se pueden admirar tapices, muebles, dibujos y pinturas de Paul Véra, que fueron legados al pueblo por su hermano André.
