Pontoise es otro de los pueblos cercanos a París salidos de un cuadro impresionista No por nada estas vistas han sido una gran inspiración para  el pintor impresionista danés Camille Pissarro que tiene su museo aquí.

Otros artistas vivieron o trabajaron en la zona, como Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, Charles-François Daubigny, Gustave Caillebotte, o Gustave Loiseau. Imprescindible pasarse también por su catedral gótica de Saint Maclou y perderse por las calles de alrededor.
Vincent van Gogh vivió también cerca de aquí en Auvers-sur-Oise.

Catedral de San Maclou

La catedral de San Maclou, edificada entre los siglos XII y XVI, es otra de las postales clásicas, con sus tejados.
De estilo gótico primitivo,  gótico flamígero y algo del estilo renacentista.
El Museo Tavet-Delacour, instalado en un palacio de finales del siglo XV, alberga las colecciones históricas de la ciudad y obras de arte de los siglos XIX y XX, entre las que destacan las del artista Otto Freundlich.


Museo Camille Pissarro

El Museo Camille Pissarro -instalado en una casa burguesa que se levantó sobre el emplazamiento del antiguo castillo real- expone un gran número de dibujos y grabados del famoso impresionista que trabajó en Pontoise de 1866 a 1883.
En el parque del museo, no hay que perderse el magnífico jardín de los cinco sentidos, con plantas aromáticas y medicinales, así como la magnífica panorámica que se divisa del valle del Oise desde las murallas.
