Hay pocos cafés tan profundamente anclados en la historia musical y literaria como Café Laurent.

Inaugurado por François Laurent en 1690, varias generaciones de personas influyentes han apoyado sus codos en el mostrador. Fontenelle, Voltaire y Rousseau vinieron aquí a descubrir el “l’eau de café” o té indio.
El lugar también es notable por su clientela de distinguidos intelectuales del siglo 20, incluidos los músicos y filósofos de la Nouvelle Vague.
En los años posteriores a la Primera Guerra Mundial, donde el jazz estaba a la orden del día y los avant-gardistes desencadenaban el existencialismo, Café Laurent fue rebautizado Le Café Tabou y contado entre sus clientes habituales Sartre, Queneau, Camus y Mauriac que lo utilizaron como sede.



En estos días, el lugar es frecuentado por la clientela elegante del barrio. Escondido en la planta baja del lujoso hotel l’Aubusson, el café también ofrece conciertos de jazz los miércoles y sábados.
El lugar es hermoso muy tranquilo y relajado, y que el ambiente es más un salón de té que un bar de cócteles.
Aunque parezca que va a costar muy caro, en realidad no es para nada así;  la entrada es gratuita y por una  bebida que puede costar unos 10 euros es posible quedarse escuchando buena música.
Hay bastante variedad musical y cambian cada día y el programa es de 21. 00 – 23. 30. Si quieres a sentarse y relajarse y disfrutar de una buena melodías de jazz.
