El turismo en París, una de las ciudades más visitadas del mundo (la más visitada), se ha desplomado debido al coronavirus, provocando el temor de cierres masivos en miles de negocios que dependen de los visitantes.

Debido al Covid-19, 14 millones menos de turistas llegaron a la capital francesa en los primeros seis meses del año en comparación con el año pasado, dijo Valerie Pecresse, presidenta de derecha de la región de París, Ile-de-France.
“El turismo es una actividad económica extremadamente preciosa para París que representa 500.000 puestos de trabajo y del 7 al 8 por ciento del crecimiento regional”, dijo Pecresse en una conferencia de prensa.
“Durante los últimos cuatro años, habíamos estado anunciando un número récord de visitantes. Por eso, con gran tristeza hemos visto cómo la pandemia ha hecho añicos un sector extremadamente dinámico y floreciente”, dijo.

Los ingresos generados por el turismo cayeron de 10.200 millones de euros de enero a junio de 2019 a 3.800 millones de euros durante el mismo período de 2020.
Como muchos aviones permanecen en tierra y los vuelos de larga distancia limitados, un 68 por ciento menos de turistas internacionales visitaron la ciudad de las luces, mientras que la caída fue del 54 por ciento para los turistas nacionales.
Los turistas extranjeros tienden a gastar entre dos y tres veces más que los que viven en Francia, lo que significa que la caída de los ingresos fue mucho más acusada.
