There is hardly another city with so many beautiful and famous cafes. In Paris, cafes are also important places for the social life of Parisians.
Artists such as Salvador Dalí or Jean Cocteau, writers such as Ernest Hemingway and Scott Fitzgerald, intellectuals such as Jean-Paul Sartre and singers such as Josephine Baker or Juliette Greco have paraded through the cafes of Paris.
In this list, there are only the historical ones, but in this city there is a new generation of specialty coffees, which we also recommend.
The emblematic cafes of Paris
Café la Rotonde
4.3 en google / 4.0 en tripadvisor
This mythical place opened its doors in 1911 and is known worldwide because artists such as Picasso or Modigliani paid for their snacks with a drawing when they were not yet world-renowned artists.
It is an emblematic place that is well worth visiting to soak up that special atmosphere of Art Deco Paris. Symbol of the Montparnasse district, it is located on a very beautiful corner, near the Luxembourg gardens.
Café de la Paix
4.2 en google / 4.0 en tripadvisor
Declared a historic site by the French government in 1975, this symbolic café is the epitome of painting and poetry.
The frescoes that decorate its interior and its proximity to the Opera Garnier in Paris, make its classic look a museum rather than a simple restaurant. Typical, classic and traditional cafe in Paris, where you have to pay a lot to be well served. The free fork costs 95 euros.
Les Deux Magots

A modest shop near the Latin Quarter, in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés square, at the end of the 19th century became the romantic cafe, frequented among others by Arthur Rimbaud.
Fifty years later, it was the meeting place for writers and philosophers, including Jean-Paul Sartre. Terrace with great atmosphere, great views. Very good service. Good beers. Excellent surroundings with views of the Church of Saint Germain des Prés.

If you like history, in the Latin Quarter you will find the first cafe in Paris. The Café Procope was inaugurated in 1686 and it is still here. If you are visiting the Latin Quarter, I recommend that you do not miss a visit.
The interior is really beautiful, all the decoration, the paintings, the curtains, the chairs, tables and everything else is taken care of to the utmost detail. It is advisable to visit it, even so, the value for money is not consistent.
El Café de Flore
4.1 en google / 4.0 en tripadvisor
This café in the Saint-Germain district continues to be a must-see for literary culture.
In the 1950s, the rebellious and gifted writer Boris Vian promoted the “existentialist” trend, before giving way to the audacious New Wave filmmakers of the 1960s.
Like coffee, it is worth it to know its history, experience the atmosphere and have the photo. To eat something, too expensive and the quality is really not worth it.
Le Select
4.1 en google / 4.0 en tripadvisor
One of the great classic Parisian cafes of Montparnasse, you have practically the right to flaunt it due to the long list of clients who have visited it. We cite by way of example: Henry Miller, Ernest Hemingway, Pablo Picasso and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Mosaic tiles on the floor and wicker chairs, Le Select bears the mark of the classic style of Parisian cafes. The best chocolate in Paris.
Café de Los Dos Molinos

The Café de Los Dos Molinos is a café-brasserie in Paris. He became famous in 2001 in the Amélie movie, because it was the setting in which the main character works as a waitress.
It is located in the beautiful Montmartre district.
The prices are not cheap at all, but if you are a fan of the film it is a place that you cannot miss. Very friendly waiters, although they are probably a little tired of so many tourists looking for a photo.
Dôme Café
3.9 en google / 3.0 en tripadvisor
A place with a lot of history and glamor. It is worth it just to enjoy the beautiful place and learn about its history. Currently, it is very expensive for what you offer to your customers. They serve a famous dessert called Napoleon which is quite good.
It is ideal if you want to have a good time observing the life of Parisians, since the tables outside allow you to observe the coming and going of people
