Ubicado en pleno centro del 6to distrito de Paris, el muy elegante Saint-Germain-des-Prés ha conocido su edad de oro después de la guerra con Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Picasso, Man Ray, Léo Ferré o Georges Brassens. Las calles más importantes son Boulevard Saint Germain, Rue Bonaparte, Rue des Saints-Péres, Rue de Grenelle y Rue du Dragon. Saint Germain des Prés es uno de los barrios con más galerías por metro cuadrado de todo París. 



Recorrido por el barrio de Saint-Germain


A. Mercado de Saint-Germain

Nos gusta comenzar nuestros recorridos por un mercado y afortunadamente en París hay muchos. Es un lindo mercado para comprar productos frescos o incluso para comer ahí mismo en las numerosas tiendas que tiene

Es un mercado de interior y cuenta con unos veinte comercios de comida, entre los cuales el famoso puesto del quesero Michel Sanders con sus comtés, mimolettes y otras delicias.
Después de probar algunos de los productos frescos del mercado, muy cerca podemos visitar el Museo Nacional de la Edad Media, que tiene un costo de 5€.

B. Café Procope

Este es el café más antiguo de París y que sigue funcionando desde 1686. Como amantes de los cafés históricos, cuando tenemos la oportunidad visitar alguno de estos lugares, es como si visitáramos un museo, sin presentaciones de que lo que se consuma sea bueno o no.

C. Bulevar Saint-Germain

El boulevard Saint-Germain recorre tres distritos de París. Es uno de los principales ejes del barrio latino. Nace a orillas del río Sena, en el V distrito junto al muelle Saint-Bernard, frente a la isla San Luis.
Las esculturas públicas y las galerías de arte privadas son la característica de Saint-Germain, un barrio con raíces artísticas que proviene los los movimientos culturales de la posguerra y de los años 60.
Las calles laterales que salen del Boulevard Saint Germain llevan a trasfondos cinematográficos con arquitectura centenaria.

D. Les Deux Magots

Siguiendo por el boulevard Saint-Germain llegamos a uno de los mas bellos y más tradicionales cafés de París Una modesta tienda del barrio Latino, en la plaza de Saint-Germain-des-Prés, se convirtió a finales del XIX en el café de los románticos, frecuentado entre otros por Arthur Rimbaud.
Cincuenta años más tarde, fue el lugar de reunión de los escritores y filósofos, entre ellos Jean-Paul Sartre.

E. Café de Flore

Este café del barrio de Saint-Germain sigue siendo un lugar de cita ineludible para la cultura literaria.
En los años cincuenta, el escritor rebelde y superdotado Boris Vian, promovió la corriente “existencialista”, antes de dejar su sitio a los audaces cineastas de la Nueva Ola de los años sesenta.
Fue fundado alrededor de 1887, durante la Tercera República Francesa. Perfecto para desayunar o tomar un té por la tarde.

F. Iglesia de Saint Sulpice

La Iglesia de Saint Sulpice  fue construida en el siglo XVII, sobre cimientos del siglo XII. Se trata de una de las más grandes de París.
Se ha transformado en una de las iglesias más visitadas es gracias al libro (y la película ) del Código da Vinci. Se puede visitar gratuitamente y hay visitas guiadas.

G. Jardines de Luxemburgo

Jardines de Luxemburgo

Una buena forma de terminar este recorrido es ingresar algunos metros en el Barrio Latino para visitar los Los Jardines de Luxemburgo. Es uno de los jardines más hermosos de la ciudad de París, lo cual es bastante meritorio ya que la ciudad cuenta con varios muy bonitos.

El epicentro de la vida artística de la margen izquierda es decididamente más burgués que bohemio hoy. Aún así, la oferta gastronómica es todavía muy variada y apta para todos los presupuestos.

  18. Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave
    it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.
    There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back!
