Museo del perfume

Hoy 22 de Diciembre se ignaugura en París el Museo del Perfume (Le Grand Musée du Parfum) en palacete neoclásico del Faubourg Saint-Honoré.  Los perfumes son una cosa seria en una ciudad como París y este nuevo museo es una clara demostración.

Este nuevo museo se encuentra en en pleno Faubourg Saint-Honoré, privilegiado enclave donde se han ubicado, desde hace casi dos siglos, las principales firmas de moda y lujo, a dos pasos del Palacio del Elíseo

El  Museo repasa 3 000 años de historia y revela sus secretos de fabricación, de las flores al frasco. Grandes alambiques y retortas de cobre ocupan la sala principal de este museo instalado en el subsuelo de lo que fuera el Teatro Edén en el siglo XIX, convertido luego en velódromo para parisinos elegantes.

Del Antiguo Egipto, donde era utilizado hace 3 000 años en ritos funerarios, a la antigüedad griega y romana, el museo de entrada gratuita patrocinado por la perfumería artesanal y familiar Fragonard, conduce al visitante a través de la historia hasta el siglo XX.

Unos 300 objetos, principalmente exquisitos frascos provenientes de la colección privada de Jean-François Costa, se exhiben en 1 200 m2 sobre tres niveles. Tras el teatro y el velódromo, la famosa mueblería inglesa Maple ocupó los locales durante 118 años.La creación del museo ha supuesto una inversión de site millones de euros surgidos de la iniciativa privada.

Ha contado con una contribución procedente del sindicato francés de perfumería, que agrupa a 66 marcas parisinas, algunas de las cuales también formarán parte de un comité de expertos que supervisará las actividades del centro. Entre ellos figuran Nicolas Beaulieu, uno de los perfumistas del prestigioso laboratorio IFF, Élisabeth Sirot, de la marca Guerlain; o Jean-Claude Ellena, la nariz de Hermès.
